I happened to church one Sunday and listened to Pastor Lori&#8217;s prayers for Aleppo, Syria and\u00a0 asked her if we do other prayers for this country. I realized then that this would be the place to begin my journey into a better understanding of my church.<br>Of course, that journey began some 70 years ago at St. Paul&#8217;s Burlingame for baptism and to Christ Church Los Altos for confirmation. Along the way I attended All Saints in Palo Alto, St. Michael&#8217;s in the desert with Mom, and even for a time, St. Anne&#8217;s here in Fremont. I was taking bits and pieces of each Church working on the puzzle I was putting together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I retired in 2012, I had time, and it certainly was time to become a more active member in the Episcopal Church&#8211;I did my reaffirmation and updated my spiritual portfolio. Although attending since 1987, time got away &#8230; one of those puzzle pieces was time of service&#8211;10:30, not too early or too late (all those cats you know) and then came the hymns, liturgy, traditions, Faith Formation, new friends, Altar Guild, Vestry, Book Club, Wednesday service, Tai Chi, and Bible Classes. Those puzzle pieces finally came together at St. James&#8217;.
