Volunteer Appreciation Sunday

Every June, the Vestry of St. James’ hosts a Coffee Hour in appreciation of all the volunteers who make St. James’ a welcoming, intentionally multi-generational community centering on Jesus.

Thank you for your financial support of St. James’. Thank you for counting and accounting our contributions, the account payables, and the reimbursements. Thanks for keep track of the pledges, serving on the Endowment Board and the Stewardship Committee. Thank you for helping in the office.

Thank you for serving as our eucharistic ministers, our acolytes; our readers, Altar Guild, adult and youth choirs, ushers and greeters. Thanks for providing us with beautiful liturgical decorations.

Thank you for serving on the Vestry, being our delegates to Convention and to our Deanery. Thank you for being on our Diocesan Committees.

Thanks for organizing and participating in Adult Faith Formation, Sunday School, Youth Group, Bible Study, Vacation Bible School, Healing Team, and Meditation.

Thanks for your IT and communication skills in updating our website, contributing and editing our Sunday bulletins, weekly Newsletter and monthly Window, designing our outdoor banners, taking photos at our various events, organizing our library and our archives, following up with visitors and inviting family and friends to join us for worship and activities.

We appreciate all who work so hard to keep our campus beautiful and ecologically appropriate: all the campus clean-ups, all who serve on the Memorial Garden Committee and all who tend to the Memorial Garden, all who serve on the Little Church Renovation Committee and who work on repairing the Little Church, all who work on campus maps and safety considerations and all who deal with building and ground maintenance issues.

Thank you for creating community through organizing and participating in the Men’s Summer Trip, the Ladies Flatlander retreat, the Men’s monthly breakfast, Available for Lunch, the Tai Chi classes, and the John McCutcheon Concert. Thanks for being on the Hospitality Team working in the kitchen on Sundays. Thanks for bringing food for our Coffee Hours. Thanks for serving on the Reception Committee and for helping with receptions for memorial services and other special events.

Thanks for reaching out to our wider community through cooking meals for the Sunrise Village and the Centerville Free Dining, donating and serving food for Sacred Space, donating school supplies and materials for children at Abode Services and our school districts, donating material to Abode Home Warming, bringing cheer and gifts to residence at Hillside Senior Care Center, building a home in Mexico through Corazon; supporting children in Kenya through Maisha Bora, serving children through Abode Kidz, and bringing communion as Lay Eucharistic Ministers.

We appreciate all your smiles, kind words and prayers for all our neighbors, as Jesus commands us to do.

Keep up the good work. Thanks be to God.
