Dear People of God,
We awake to a country that is different from what it was and surely to change going forward. For some, this is a relief and for others this is dispairing.
Regardless of who you voted for, we remember that we walk in the way of Jesus Christ which means we extend our hand to the poor, we protect the most vulnerable, we lift up the lowly, we call out oppression, and always, we seek to reconcile all things and all people to God.
Our work as Christians never ends. We are commanded to love God, love our neighbor, and love our enemies today just as we were yesterday. We have been baptized into the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, and hope springs from that Living Water.
Remember that love already won. It won many, many years ago on a wooden cross and in an empty tomb. That has not changed. Today, we are the ones who make that love real.
In the words of Teresa of Ávila:
“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”
We will be celebrating Holy Eucharist today at 10:00am in the Little Church.
Today is a new day. Let us rejoice in God’s creation.
