National Night Out at St. James’

On the first Tuesday of August every year, people in cities all across the nation gather to meet their neighbors.  Referred to as National Night Out, this event is designed to strengthen our neighborhoods though police-community partnerships.  It’s a great chance to get to know others in the area and visit with our neighbors.

St. James’ will participate this year – Tuesday, August 7 from 7pm to 9pm.  We will be inviting the people in the townhouses next door and the Harbor Light congregation as well.  We expect to be visited by the Fremont police and/or fire fighters and hope to have guests from CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and SBARA (South Bay Amateur Radio Association).  We will provide cold drinks, ice cream and pop-corn.

The St. James’ Disaster Preparedness Team is sponsoring this event.  We are a group of parishioners working at ways to take care of the church, its members and members of the surrounding community in case of an emergency.  It is our goal to help everyone become better prepared.  Please mark your calendars and plan to come by the church for this short but very meaningful event.
