St James’ Episcopal Church is a community striving to become more child centered. We have a history of welcoming and encouraging all people and understand that there is need in all of us to continue learning and exploring our faith and that the opportunity to grow in faith should begin with our youngest members.
We offer a variety of opportunities for children and families to connect and get involved, from Sunday School, to Young Acolytes, special events, annual summer day camp, the annual Easter Egg hunt and Christmas Pageant. Recently events have included a family barbecue and a camp-out where families get to stay the night and cook out on campus. Please feel free to contact our Children & Youth Minister, Jan Scrutton for information on any of our regular or special events.
Childcare is available during the 10.30am service in the nursery located at the back of church. Young children age four and under can visit the nursery for all or part of the service. Children are very welcome to remain in church and books, activity sheets and crayons are available for your use.
Young people in 6th – 12th grade are welcomed at Episcopal Youth Fremont, a youth group for students at St. James’ and St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Fremont. Sunday Breakfast Club is another chance for the group to meet monthly during the school year and is held on the first Sunday of the month at 9:15am in the Vestry Room at St. James’.
