St. James’ ASL

An American Sign Language (ASL) Ministry

Are you Deaf or a fluent ASL signer? St. James’ ASL welcomes you to our Zoom services Sunday mornings 11:00AM – 12:30PM Pacific Time. Before the service there is also a Zoom social gathering – like a coffee hour – at 10:30AM. Please join us for both.

St James ASL is open and affirming. We value diversity of all varieties, and we are blessed to have many members from outside the Fremont, CA area. Because we are on Zoom, participants can (and do) join us from other cities and states. Click here for the zoom link.

Slides of readings, and so on, are sent to members of an ASL translation team the day before so they can create Deaf-friendly translations for the Sunday services. The services also include reflections, discussions, and community prayers.

In August 2022, we had our first retreat with 12 of us in attendance. It was a time of worship, teaching, reflection, and especially socializing in person, which we had not been able to do for two years because of COVID. It was a wonderful time, and hope to do it again in the future.
