Bishop Austin highlighted the personal impact of Hurricane Helene on his ministry roots in The Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina in his letter to the Diocese shared Tuesday, October 1st. The Episcopal Church’s response to this natural disaster and other places of pain and need is through the work and ministry of Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD).
Established in 1940 as the Presiding Bishop’s Fund for World Relief, renamed in 2000 to reflect its ongoing mission, ERD continues to meet the needs of our neighbors near and far. In today’s update from Robert W. Radtke, President & CEO of ERD, he notes that, “As of today, we are helping the dioceses in Florida and Georgia support impacted families by providing gift cards and distributing water, food, clothing and fuel to families in need. We are also supporting our church and community leaders throughout North Carolina, Tennessee and South Carolina as they assess the damage and determine their immediate needs.”
