Although our focus age range for summer camp is 5-12 years old the reality is the gathering during the week extends from birth to over 80 years old – and we all have fun! In 2015 we introduced our under 4’s day when younger children were welcome to join in the fun, with a parent. This went over well with our visitors and with those of us who were there all week enjoyed the new perspective on camp.
But every year we welcome new and returning adult volunteers. If you have never been please think about how you might benefit from a day (or 5) at camp, or how we might benefit from your presence. Ask a volunteer why they do it, and why they come back again! You might be best suited to helping Jennifer with music or Jill with games. You might be able to learn a new craft to share with the children, or maybe bring an idea along to Jan that we can incorporate (anyone done candle making before?) We always need help with making and serving drinks and snacks and if the height of your craft skill is coloring-in we even have an electric pencil sharpener for you to use!
St. James’ community is great at stepping up, and VBS is a success because of your commitment to volunteering, helping with supplies and supporting us with donations and prayer. Thank you.
