On Sunday, April 15, the Southern Alameda County Deanery met at St James’ for a little friendly competition with members of our fellow Deaneries for a Chowdown Smackdown. The theme for this event was Pasta. Each deanery submitted a dish and everyone voted for their favorite (People’s Choice Award). A panel of unbiased judges was selected to also give the Judges’ Award. Once again, Saint James’ won the Judges’ Award with a Pesto Caprese salad, and St. Bart’s Livermore won the People’s Choice award for their Cowboy Lasagna.
Our Judges were Lucy Hernandez and C. Lee Hewitt from S.A.V.E. S.A.V.E.’s mission is to strengthen every individual and family they serve with the knowledge and support needed to break the cycle of domestic violence and build healthier lives. A freewill donation of more than $340 was raised to support this ministry.
Many thanks to all who attended and brought side dishes. A special thank you to the St James’ Deanery and Meg Amouroux for herding the cats.
