Children’s Programs

St James’ Episcopal Church is a community striving to become more child centered. We have a history of welcoming and encouraging all people and understand that there is need in all of us to continue learning and exploring our faith and that the opportunity to grow in faith should begin with our youngest members.

We offer a variety of opportunities for children and families to connect and get involved, from Sunday School and Children’s Choir, to Young Acolytes, special events, Vacation Bible School and the annual Easter Egg hunt and Christmas Pageant.  Our Family Calendar aims to keep families in touch with events and opportunities coming up. Please feel free to contact our Children’s Minister, Jan Scrutton (jan@saintj.com) for information on any of our regular or special events.

Children’s Sunday School for children ages 4 through 6th grade takes place every Sunday of the school year in our classroom, EB3, located in our Education building. The lesson starts with games on the lawn outside church at 10.15am giving parents chance to drop off their children before the start of the 10.30am service. Children re-join their family’s part way through the service.

Childcare is available during the 10.30am service in the nursery located at the back of church. Young children age four and under can visit the nursery for all or part of the service. Children are very welcome to remain in church and books, activity sheets and crayons are available for your use.
